Help us help you
By admin at 2012-07-20 02:16

Cancerfocus was developed in 2006 as a forum to allow patients to interact with each other as well as to provide a 'third' opinion regarding the treatment of cancers. Often cancer treatment that is performed in smaller hospitals around the country focuses on therapies that are currently available at the center rather than what the state of the art might actually be. By providing access to cancer research scientists that generally work on pre-clinical treatments that may take 10-20 years to become available (Ph.D's), we hope to create an environment where our users are armed with the latest information, from someone who cannot actually provide the treatment themselves. Therefore, the information will be impartial, but correct. I would like us to share what we would do for ourselves, or our loved ones. 'Where would we go?' In this manner, we give you, the patient, or the patient's family, the ability to have the best chance of receiving the correct treatment.

To help us achieve this, we need funds. We need them to pay contributors, and we need them to maintain the site. Fortunately, this site fits in with what we do every day, which is work on cancer cures, so nothing is wasted effort. You, as a community of cancer sufferers, are harboring a library of tumors, each with unique mutations, that may be useful now or in the future. Your tissue can help test cancer drugs or develop new treatments. At some point in the future, we may even be able to test your tumors and get the information straight back to you. We are working towards that goal, but we're not there yet.

Therefore, I would like to ask you to consider donating money below, or if you or someone you know is heading into surgery for a tumor resection, understand that much of what is removed will be thrown away. Contact us and we will provide your hospital with a fedex package to send it to us.

I created this site in memory of my father Duncan Ross Jr. When my journey with my dad began, I was unaware of the state of the art in his disease, and, therefore, we made some decisions which ultimately resulted in our options becoming limited. While everyone touched by cancer tries to become educated as rapidly as possible, there is little hope of achieving this within the course of the disease. I would like to help individuals avoid such a situation. To achieve this I need you to support our sponsors or donate directly to us. We are not currently a 501c(3), and thus your donations are not tax deductible, but with enough interest we may move towards that goal. By choosing one of the greater support amounts below, you (or the patient) will receive a detailed description of your condition or we will research clinical trials and outcomes around the world. Please contact us at info@cancerfocus.org for more information.

Duncan Ross III, Ph.D.
